    Preparation

    Make preparation for the production process plan and draw the casting process drawing
  • Production Preparation

    Prepare melting materials, molding & core-making materials, as well as patterns, core boxes, flasks and other tooling
  • Molding and Core Making

    Molding and core making includes sand mixing, molding, core making and mold matching
  • Melting and Pouring

    Alloy materials are melted into molten metal.On-line composition analysis is carried out, then the liquid metal is poured into the sand mold.
  • Cleaning and Inspection

    Shakeout, heat treatment and shot blasting cleaning, followed by inspection of finished castings for qualification

  • Gravity Casting Process Flow

    Put aluminum ingots and other raw materials into the melting furnace for heating and melting until the required temperature and chemical composition are achieved.During melting, refining treatments such as degassing and slag removal may be carried out to improve the quality of the molten aluminum
  • Pouring & Mold Filling

    Manually pour the refined molten aluminum into the sprue of the metal mold using a ladle. The molten aluminum fills the mold cavity by its own weight.The pouring speed and volume must be properly controlled to avoid defects such as gas porosity and slag inclusions
  • Ventilation

    During the filling of molten aluminum, the gas inside the mold cavity needs to be discharged in a timely manner to ensure the quality of castings.Vent grooves, vent holes and other structures are usually arranged on the mold for gas exhausting.
  • Cooling

    The molten aluminum gradually cools and solidifies inside the mold.The cooling rate has a significant influence on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the casting, so it must be controlled according to the technical requirements of the casting
  • Mold Opening

    When the casting has cooled to a certain extent and acquired sufficient strength, open the mold and take out the casting
  • Fettling

    Clean the removed castings and remove surface burrs, flash, gate residues and other excess material
  • Heat Treatment

    Appropriate heat treatment, such as annealing, quenching and aging, shall be carried out on the casting according to its service requirements to improve its mechanical properties
  • Machining

    Perform mechanical machining on the casting to meet the dimensional accuracy and surface quality specified in the design
